Yesterday I had my first ever new job Supervisor-self conflict..

 

Lets take it from the top.

 

Me: Mr G My brother is coming  into town for Christmas and His flight lands at 5 AM so Can i leave by 3 AM(45 mins early) so I can reach home by 4 and then  drive down to receive him ?

 

Mr G: Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. NO

 

Me: I am requesting you its important  , just a matter of 45 minutes.

 

Mr G: No , please understand I cant let you leave.

 

Me: Can you atleast let me know the business Impact incase I leave 45 mins early?

 

Mr G: there is no impact.

 

Me: Then why cant I  leave?

 

Mr G: you reason is not grave enought for me to allow you to leave early. Its just diciplinary.

 

Me: Diciplinary? I have never asked you to let me go early.

 

Mr G: not you ! but if I give you this time off I will have to give the rest of the team off on such excuses.

 

Me: ( angry and about to clobber him) Ooh? exactly how many such "excuses" do you get in a day?

 

Mr G: you can pick up  your brother an hour later he can wait at the airport he is a grown person.

 

Me: I am not letting him sit at the airport for an Hour.

 

 Mr G: Please understand , I refuse. Work is more important rest can wait.

 

Me: Ok(  imagines  kicking his Balls)

 

 

 

(in the next 3 hours i walk to his superior Mr S)

 

 

 

Me: Hi S i need to leave an hour early  because  i have to  pick my Brother up at the airport.

 

Mr S: Yes!

 

Me: Thank you

 

Then  Mr G asks me sarcastically... so Miss V you leaving?

 

Me: yes I am

 

Mr G: that was not the correct protocol you know

 

Me: Ooh? har har!

 

and I leave
